GKD represented in France with own production

GKD – GEBR. KUFFERATH AG, Düren, took over the French company Département Architecture (DA) based in La Roque d’Anthéron, Southern France with effect from September 1, 2011. Since 2004, the company specialized in sales, consulting and assembly has acted as sales- and assembly office for GKD in France. In recent years, DA expanded its activities by producing its own sun protection systems. With the acquisition of DA and its production plants, GKD is represented in France with two subsidiaries. Both companies keep their names. While GKD France still functions as holistic partner for CreativeWEAVE architectural and design meshes, DA acts as specialist for system design, packing, assembly and maintenance. The previous managing director of both companies, Nicolas Rodet, will remain in this position.

“The acquisition of DA is a logical step in the history of both companies,” explains Dr. Stephan Kufferath, managing partner of GKD – GEBR. KUFFERATH AG. 25 years ago, GKD founded a French subsidiary in Paris from which DA emerged a couple of years later. The company relocated its headquarters to Southern France, 25 kilometers to the northwest of Aix-en-Provence. Today, GKD France is located in the same area. An increasing demand for the sun protection system Licorne played a decisive role in the decision to take over DA. “The sun protection systems support our change from being a product supplier to becoming a system provider – a development which started one year ago with the production of ceiling systems.”
